“I can’t find good help” is a common challenge for many entrepreneurs. There’s a source of highly qualified, loyal staff that you probably haven’t tapped into.
David Lee Windecher will his story of how he went from being a being in prison as a Latin King gang member to a lawyer, actor, and CEO. He now helps other people with a past stay out of prison with his organization RED (Rehabilitation Enables Dreams).
RED's restorative justice program helps youths reclaim their dignity and gain social mobility through alternative education, mentor support and community partnerships. He will speak to us about how this program helps employers find dedicated, long term employees and help the community at the same time.
About the Speaker
David was arrested 13 times and spent over 7 months incarcerated as a juvenile. He dropped out of high school and joined a gang for protection. David endured the brutal climate of the lawlessness on the streets, by both criminals and the police. Simultaneously, he dreamed of become a lawyer and fighting for those who don't have the resources to pay for justice.
David began his path to self-rehabilitation when he received his GED in March of 1998 and took his first academic steps toward his childhood dream of becoming a lawyer. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from American Intercontinental University in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2005 and received his Juris Doctorate degree from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, GA in 2012. He is licensed to practice law in Georgia and Florida.
David's transformation from defendant to defense attorney, boldly challenges our historical approaches to justice and exposes our deeply flawed ideas about criminality. His story compels us to acknowledge the loss of our humanity within the legal system.
