Scaling Up with Offshore Talent

Hiring talent abroad has been long used by large-scale organizations with a high volume of repeatable tasks or small businesses leveraging virtual assistants. But the opportunity to leverage skilled labor and scale companies, big or small, is an opportunity most entrepreneurs fail to take advantage of. The question is, where to start, how to assess, and where to find the right people? These were questions David Nilssen, CEO of Guidant Financial, and EO Seattle Member, found himself asking.
After the Great Recession and facing a substantial shift in the cost of labor due to the Seattle minimum wage – David led a transformation of Guidant Financial beginning with an intentional investment in offshore teams. He quickly learned there are significant advantages for larger companies who leverage offshore talent and was forced to build processes and systems to ensure that they, as a smaller company, had access to the same talent and resources.
Today David has more than 50 people abroad, representing 33% of his workforce. The company is more profitable than ever and is an exceptional case study for how an existing business can leverage global talent to reduce costs, scale faster and create more opportunity for its workers, here and abroad.
In this interactive, 60-min keynote, you will learn:
- - Which US labor trends are killing your business and getting worse
- - Options you have for building teams on, near or offshore
- - Why most entrepreneurs fail to effectively leverage global talent
- - How it can positively impact your domestic culture and performance
- - Tools and systems that ensure you get the best out of your teams
It is highly recommended that additional leader(s) from your company attend with you.
